When you start your dog training, you should not forget to train your dog in heel command, as it is one the very important command for your dog. It will save your most of the time when you will be yelling at your dog’s behavior during long or short walks in your town. There can be different reasons that why dogs behave so rudely and bad during walks. May be, the reason is encountering new places, streets, excitement of combing streets, new smells, tastes and other local dogs to meet but no one can say it with surety as dogs are simple a strange pet to have.

So you should train the dog in order to avoid the hassle and irritation it can cause you while walk. First of all you should stand with your dog, as dog should be next to your left leg. You should have a dog favorite food in your left hand but a little bit higher than dog reach. Now make an eye contact with your dog by calling his name. As your eye contact establish and dog comes to know that you are having his favorite food in your hand, you have to take few steps forward and then stop.

If your dog moves with you then it is a successful achievement of the first step of dog training. You praise him and give him his favorite food. When dog finishes eating, repeat this again and again. Take two steps and encourage him by taking steps with you by calling his name and praise and give him food. This training is very interesting for your dog and you too but if your dog shows any lethargy say, “aah-aah” and begin again. Repeat it with your dog and when your dog becomes habitual with two steps, then increase it with four steps then six then eight.

When your dog becomes expert in heeling of ten or more steps, then start a verbal cue to behavior. When you are about to take steps, call name of your dog as “Harry Heel” then go forward so after doing it again and again, it will build an association of taking steps with heel in your dog’s mind. Now this is one dog training in which when your dog becomes expert, he will be no more the reason of irritation when you will go to walk with him.
