Does Obama’s health care plan allow seniors to die any way they want?

A reader asks... Thankfully, the answer to this one is yes! excerpt... The president said he sympathized with and related to the fears of older Americans, adding that if a politician told him he could only be killed by being forcibly removed from his home and shot in the street like a dog, but left out the fact that he could also be put down by painless lethal injection, he would be scared, too. "Folks' concerns over my plan are all based on bogus claims that we intend to set up death panels to kill off senior citizens," Obama said. "Well, that is preposterous. A death panel is only one of many ways we can exterminate the elderly. Under my plan, they can be beaten or poisoned to death. They can be murdered by the Marines or the Air National Guard. They can die fast or they can die slow. They can even be drowned in their own bathtubs." http://www.theonion.com/content/news/obama_health_care_plan_would_give Sounds just like this administration. It’s the middle of winter, why is my OLD dog shedding so much, what can we do to help him?

A reader asks... Or St. Bernard/Pit Bull/Chow who is going on 14 has recently started shedding worse than he has ever shed before. We took him to the vet a few months ago and we were told that for as old as he is he's in good health. Besides the fact that he's a little under weight, deaf and has dementia. But beside that in good health. Any good suggestions for all the shedding. We live in Indiana so the winters are cold. But he lives in the house. We do a lot of brushing but the hair just keeps coming out. We hope to have a few more good years with him and of course in the mean time we give him lots of love and care during his senior moments. And yes even dogs have senior moments. ...Continue reading...

A reader asks... I've recently adopted a nine year old shih-tzu. He doesn't have any health problems, but I'm anticipating some solely because of his age. I would like to know if anyone who has experience with pet insurance with senior dogs has found the cost worth it. ...Continue reading...

Is there any legal or ethical way to stop a neighbor who harasses a senior citizen about her puppies barking?

A reader asks... A relative of mine, a 77 year old lady has two puppies, and gets constantly harassed by one of her next-door neighbors about their barking. The lady has dog licenses and rabies tags for her puppies, they never get out of the yard, and they are kept inside all night and part of the day. She also gave her neighbor her phone number and told her to call if she hears the puppies barking and it wakes her up. The lady has started to put the puppies outside later in the morning so as not to wake the neighbor. The neighbor complained to the police and the health department anyway. The lady’s other next-door neighbors work at night and sleep in the day but THEY have not complained about her puppies barking. The other residents nearby on the block also have dogs. The neighbor has even called this lady a b*tch on the answering machine. This lady has done all she can to accomodate this neighbor who even yells at her when she sees her in the yard. I appreciate any sincere and helpful advice. The neighbor now complains if the dogs bark in the evening when she comes home from work. So its more than the neighbor gets annoyed if she gets woke up by the dogs. Apparently the neighbor doesn't want my relative to have pets although the neighbor has two barking dogs of her own. ...Continue reading...
