your vet should be able to give you a dog type of aspirin. these tend to work better than aspirin. there are many types but the most common ones are rimadyl and dermaxx. both are relativly safe but you will need to monitor your dogs liver values if she is on it for long periods and not just when symptoms occur. hope this helps. poor thing and good luck to you.
There are a number of medications that help, so can surgery. It is a very painful thing. Please see a vet and follow up with proper care.
I have a nearly 4 yr. old lab mix that has severe hip dysplasia. I give him Rimadyl. This is something you definitely want to get recommendations from your vet. There are other pain relievers for dogs out there. I have heard things about Rimadyl that scare me a bit. In fact, every 6 mos. my Kobe has to get blood drawn to make sure the Rimadyl isn’t harming his liver. I’ve heard wonderful things about canine chiropractors for relieving pain from hip dysplasia. Oh, don’t forget to give your dog some sort of supplement to help build cartilage.
You can try a prescription medication from your vet. There is this new medication called Adequan that is an injectable that you would have to go to your veterinarian to get. It actually helps repair the joints and it really helps. It is kind of expensive, but I would really recommend it.
I have a Belgian Malionis that has a bad shoulder and I use Cosequin and Duralactin. They are both just nutritional supplements, but they do help some.
I have a 4 year old rott that has hip displasia. We give her two ascripton in the morning and two ascription at night. She is about 100lbs. it helps her a lot. It can be purchased at any drug store. It is usually by the asprin.
The vet should’ve told you what medication to put the dog on because they definately need to be medicated. I also heard it’s very expensive to do so.
