Why Does A Dog Take Cat Poop Out Of Litter Box?
my bichon took out the cat ’s poop out of the litter box and brought it with him in his mouth first on the couch then he brought up stairs in our bedroom while we were sleeping. why do dogs like the smell and taste of cat poop even after there is litter all over the poop. will the litter hurt my dog if he eats it when he has the poop in his mouth???

ha well my dog does the same thing! its gross but the reason for it is that well there used to it like the mothers lick there chidls anal area and they eat there dogs poop too keep the place clean! but if a grown dog does it it is not normal it mostly means there bored! soo yeah my dog does it also! haha well good luck
It is common for dogs to eat poop especially cat poop my vet told me that is ok it will not hurt them even though it is nasty.
They say it has somekind of vitamins in it other than what they get….don’t worry they do over come it.Or mine did.
because dogs have a keen sense of smell.. too keen, that they can even smell the food even when its turned to pooh..
The poop itself probably isn’t harmful but i would question rather the litter is good for it. I don’t imagine so. Supposedly from what i’ve read there are products you can get in pet stores such as Pet Smart that you put in the litter that will stop the dog from doing this. You might call a local pet store to see if they have a product such as this. Also I’v e read that it is due to a vitamin they are lacking in their diet and that this vitamin can be purchased for your dog so you might call your vet and ask him about it….
