My dog keeps the dirt under are deck’s stairs. She was never the kind of dog that liked digging stuff up. She is a great dane age 8. She is a chubby very energetic dog, and she doesn’t seem to ahve changed anything in her behavior or eating habbits, except for the whole digging thing lol
I was wondering is there something wrong with her?

its 100+ outside– she prolly just trying to stay cool by diggin a hole to lay in cool dirt, they do that– or she might be low on a mineral in her diet, salt probly
SHE MAY BE LOOKING FOR A COOL PLACE TO LAY OR SHE MAY SMELL SOMTHING IN THE GROUND SHE WONTS TO ROLL IN
She’s just bein a dog. Gotta love em.
she might do it to lay on the cold dirt and be closer to your family, or she’s bored
dogs normally like to dig. its just what they do
dog dig holes to lie in them to keep cool there is nothing wrong with your dog
in the summer time dogs try to stay cool by digging
its probably cool there and she is trying to make it comfy
Maybe she smells something and wants to dig it up. Or there is an animal under the deck and she wants to trap it hahahaha other than that i dont know!! have a GREAT digging HAHAHA
She is looking for a cool spot to lay in.
sounds like shes bored… dogs will do things like that when they are alone and bored…
Dogs do that to make a cool place to lie down when it’s hot out.
Could she be pregnant? Sounds like she is making a nest.
She is simply very bored. Try taking her for a walk or something.
maybe she is getting lonely… dogs sometimes get neurotic when they are lonely.
She seems just a bit curious or bored. Im sure you have toys for her? Toys help bored doggies. Or she might smell some kind of animal or something under there, plus it is hot outside and dogs like to dig a hole to stay cool. It could be tons of things. She is most likely okay. =)
I doubt there’s anything truly wrong with her. If your dog is bored, confined or chained she’ll dig in an attempt to “get out”. Or perhaps there’s something that smells good–like a mole or some other critter–under the ground.
(A friend of mine named his dog “Digger” for obvious reasons.)
It sounds like the same thing the dogs we had growing up would do. They would dig under the steps in the summer and lay there. It was in the shade and the dirt was cool for them.
