Mastiffs drool a lot, maybe the stairs is where he likes to shake and therefore spreads the drool around the walls.
The colours could be from his food and also the green from chewing grass.

  2. I have to agree with the smelling technique, but rather than it being poop, I am more prone to think that it is dried up, goopy saliva. Mastiffs have those big drooly jowels, and he could have been sticking his face in the dirt and chewing grass to get the green and brown combination. The smelling would rule out if it is in fact feces, and would also rule out any potential infection in either the dogs “boogers” or saliva. Good luck.

  3. Is your dog’s food dish near the stairs?
I have a Saint Bernard, which is in the mastiff family. Sometimes she shakes her head after eating, and drool flies everywhere. So I’m guessing the wall boogers are probably drool, or drool mixed with food.
One tip I read in a Saint Bernard book was to keep a little towel near the dog’s food dish and wipe her mouth right after she’s done eating. This will help prevent drool from being spread around the house.
    I hope that helps!

  4. My puppy does too. There is brown spots all the way up the staircase. It’s dirt from her/his paws. Our pup is so excited to come in from outside and she RUNS up and down the stairs. It’s dirt from her paws. Just vacuum it up. That’s what works for us.

  5. why dont you smell it and see if it is poop
