take a cookie or a piece or steak and put it in his face and make him follow it up the stairs.
carry him on the steps of the stairs and let him sit there, tell him nicely its alright. the try to tug gently on his leash and see he goes up there. takes patience.
I agree about the treats on the steps, and not only does it work, we used that method to teach our heeler to climb a ladder!!
It works as long as you are patient, loving and willing to provide the treats during the training.
Good luck!
Try treating each step….put a lil treat on each step and give him a BIg reward at the end.
One step at a time. Use doggy treats to get him/her to go one more step. It is scary for them, but if your there and help it see that there is no danger, it will follow. Praise it for every step with a reward and a big smile, they watch your expressions and know if your pleased or not with them. Good luck.
