  1. To control shedding give the dogs a good daily brushing and feed a quality food. Yes, food does make a difference. Our pets need quality food. Read the ingredients list and learn what the stuff on there is and what it does (or does not do) to/for our pets. A quick pet food 101. If the pet food contains corn/corn products or by products it is a poor quality food. Corn is a filler that can trigger skin problems. (allergies, skin problems, itching and excessive shedding) By products is anything from an animal not fit for human consumption, including cancerous tissue. Do not pay attention to advertising, they all say there food is great. “Vet approved” means they have a vet on staff to approve their product. In other words, someone paid to approve it. Same with foods most vets recommend. Salesmen “gift” vets then the vet recommends the food. Most vets are not nutritionists! Quality foods have meat as the first ingredient Wellness, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick are a few of the best brands available. You could also toss them a fish oil gel cap every day, that is good on a few levels.

  2. Great choice of breed if you don’t like the dog to shed hair. Ah well, the only thing I can say is apart from regular brushing and good food, you could try hoovering them………no I am serious if you can’t be bothered to brush them all every couple of days it’s an alternative.
My friend has a German Shepherd and her hairs get everywhere too, personally I wouldn’t be able to stand it.
I have also seen people brushing their dogs in the park or in open spaces to shed the hair there instead of in their homes!!

  3. i have this problem with my airedale,
the only way i have found to minimise the problem is regular grooming,
and maybe a bath ever so often (Not weekly) followed with a thorough brush.
also look if there’s a window open that is blowing the hairs upstairs,
    Good luck

  4. i am afraid it is just part of keeping them as house pets. be careful about the wash them often advice as this will take away essential oils from their coats. in effect their coats will lose its insulation which is not good when they go outside in the cold.
perhaps regular grooming is your best bet, but that is unlikely to ocmpletely fix the problem

  5. bath them reguarly and brush them a few times a week…outside, use a bruch that will capture the hair and all you would need to do is take the hair out of the brush a throw it away. that seemed to really help with our sheltlend sheepdog.

  6. you have three large breed dogs who shed quite a bit, you wont completely stop the hair, but brushing once a day, and using a de-shedding tool such as the furminator would reduce the amount of hair the dog is losing.

  7. the Fur-minator. it is a shedding tool but it cost about $59 for the large one or you can just buy a different shedding tool at pet co. good luck

  8. — Brush brush brush :)
    – I heard of people using their handheld vacuum cleaner on their pets and they actually enjoying that.
    – Also adding some sort of oil to their food might help.
    – Try to live with it (…)

  9. Regular washing and grooming. The only way to stop getting onto fabric/carpets is to replace with leather furniture and lino or wood flooring. Good luck!

  10. I agree with caroline.
You need to groom them regularly and wash them. Brush them using a special brush that picks up under lose hair from their coat as well.

If your brushing them everyday that will help. Maybe try a Furminator.http://www.furminator.com/

  12. Buy a shedding blade, it pulls out any dead coat, also hoovering daily.
