How Can I Repair My Stair Banister That My Dog Ate?
the wood is stained, not painted. i have a jar of the stain from the builder. how can i fill in the wood and stain over it without making it obvious. to replace it would be way too much work (tear down part of the banister)

Sand carefully to smooth out the teeth marks.
Use color matched wood filler to fill in the gouges.
Sand again.
Use a pre-stain raw wood primer so the filler and gouged wood doesn’t stain too dark.
Stain to match. You may have to start light and re-stain if the wood color has changed as its aged.
