Training Golden Retriever Puppies

Dogs aren’t like people, as a result they need to learn in different ways. Dogs don’t experience human responses, and therefore they really don’t perform with the principle of right or wrong. Instead, they operate with a principle of reaction, led by the actions people give them. Any time their behaviors create a bad response from you, they’ll likely understand that what they’re doing is wrong and will stop doing that particular behavior.

But if your dog does something correctly, he ought to be lauded for it. If your Golden Retriever is listening to what you say and doing well, you must reward him using a treat or praise. Letting him see that he is doing fine leads to a positive response. On the other hand, if he isn’t responding to you or doing the absolute opposite of the actions you state, you should not reward him in the least – but alternatively reprimand him using a stern NO.

As you are training your Golden Retriever, timing is the most important thing. If your dog is doing something incorrectly, you should not wait or hesitate to correct him. Doing so may give the incorrect impression. When your Golden is doing something bad, you should correct him right then and there, so that he will know most certainly what he is doing wrong.

For example, if your Golden Retriever is chasing cars, you clearly should prohibit this practice before it gets it beyond control. The minute you observe him carrying this out, you should always prohibit him and let him see he’s wrong. By doing this, he will understand that chasing vehicles is something he should not be doing. It could take a bit of time for your pet to comprehend this, and you’ll will want to maintain your ground and still correct him if he is doing something you do not approve of.

This type of theory is comparable to that relating to praise. When you see your Golden Retriever doing something appropriate, you must praise him right away. If you do not praise him instantly but on the other hand wait until eventually he has stopped, he will assume that you are praising him for stopping. To be on the safe side and get the most out of your Golden, always praise him when he is acting correctly, then correct your pet when he’s acting in a negative way.

When you spend some time and demonstrate tolerance with your Golden Retriever, you shouldn’t have any problems training him. The training process could possibly need quite a bit of time, although it is more than worth it in the long run. After you have trained your Golden Retriever, he will respond to the actions you say, and avoid doing the actions he may be corrected for. Training Golden Retrievers is vital for your dog and will make him a much better dog once he grows older.
