Know How To Train You Bichon Frise
If you have set your eyes on a Bichon Frise you will agree with me when I say that there are no words to describe how sweet this dog can be. The eyes of the Bichon Frise are always beseeching you for love and even if you know it for the briefest time you will feel like it is speaking with you through its eyes.
Bichon Frise obedience training is a little tough. Despite the fact that this dog is exceptionally sweet and extremely attached to its owner, these dogs are not very good at obeying orders. They almost always seem to have a mind of their own and choose to completely ignore you if they feel you are forcing them to do something. This is why, most Bichon Frise are very difficult to housebreak, and there are times when their owners never get to housebreak them at all.
Bichon Frise obedience training needs to be done as early as possible, preferably as soon as they turn three months old. In most cases, knowing that they have a stubborn streak, it is better to hire a professional trainer for this purpose. You need to ensure however that the method of training follows positive reinforcement rather than punishment, as the Bichon Frise gets upset by negative behavior.
There are two main things that need to be addressed with Bichon Frise training ? the most important is housebreaking and the other one is controlling its barking. These dogs tend to bark whenever they get upset and this can be when you are out of the house for a little longer than three hours or when you have too many people in the house or when children play too loudly, too.
It takes tremendous amount of love to persuade this sweet fur ball to listen to you. This is why it is best to use the services of a professional trainer who besides teaching your Bichon Frise to sit, lay, beg, roll over and will also give a hand at housebreaking it.
The Bichon Frise obedience training is much easier with positive reinforcement than any other method. Be sure you keep your dog aglow with praise, love and plenty of tidbits. They catch on fast when they are petted and praised when they perform. Commands like come, sit and stay can be taught much easier than quiet (to stop the bark) or go to your place when guests are in.
A professional trainer is always best in this case because they have well tried methods and more experience than you will have in this aspect. It will be even better if you get a trainer who has trained previously Bichon Frise dogs, as these are temperamentally very different from other dogs.
The good news with this dog is that they are very responsive to love and attention. Very often what you cannot do with a stern hand, you can achieve with positive reinforcement and love.
