The Shar Pei puppy is quickly becoming recognized as one of the most desirable breeds in the world. With their sweet tempered nature, and their fierce loyalty, the Shar Pei puppy is one of the most ideal breeds for any family with children. The unusual appearance of the Shar Pei, with their large folds across the face and body, often conjures images of aggression, making the Shar Pei one of the most misunderstood dogs in history.

Originally a Chinese fighting dog, Shar Pei puppies are extraordinarily loyal by nature, yet are sweet tempered enough to make the perfect pet for families with children. It is unfortunate that many are put off by the unusual appearance of the Shar Pei puppy, as they are actually one of the sweetest dogs you will ever come across. And the Shar Pei will fight to the death to protect the family he loves.

The Shar Pei puppy is also a fine dog for show. Available in several different colors, from red to black to blue, many owners have found their dogs to be extremely competitive in the arena. But don’t make the mistake of thinking that their competitive nature means they enjoy the sport.

The horse coat, a short, coarse haired dog that looks to be more skin than fur, the brush coat, which is slightly longer and softer, but still considered appropriate for show and the bear coat, a longer, softer coat that is not considered to be acceptable for show as it completely hides the folds and wrinkles that make this breed so distinctive.

But Shar Pei puppies are not without their disadvantages. Prone to certain health conditions, the Shar Pei puppy requires extra veterinary attention to help ensure that these issues don’t become life threatening. Most of these health issues are the direct result of irresponsible breeding practices by breeders who don’t concern themselves with making sure they only breed new Shar Pei puppies from healthy stock.

If you are looking to buy a Shar Pei puppy, then it is up to you to make certain that you only purchase your pup from a respectable breeder. You can easily find a good breeder by asking your local veterinarian to recommend one of the breeders that he or she deals with on a regular basis.

With the right amount of care, the Shar Pei puppy can provide you and your family with many years of enjoyable companionship. Owning a Shar Pei puppy is a great responsibility; but if you take proper care of them, the undying love and fierce loyalty you will be rewarded with makes that responsibility well worth the effort.
